The Scout
It started with a love for Sherry.
It started because a couple friends wanted a place they could be comfortable sipping wines at a reasonable price.
The Scout is three friends, coming together to make a tiny place in Gresham their own.

In the press
“In a moment when wine culture can feel increasingly rarefied—and increasingly expensive—one neighborhood wine bar in Gresham, Oregon is taking a different approach: Make it local, make it welcoming, and make it accessible.”
— Forbes “The bar and adjoining shop feel like a comfortably worn-in living room, stocked with books and games. The intentionally focused by-the-glass list spotlights 10 sustainable producers from the Pacific Northwest and beyond.“
The Scout is approachable for both wine connoisseurs or the vino uninitiated. The selection, featuring a wide array of bottles from across the globe, was curated by Cassondra Bird, who is the wine expert among the owners. She is a sommelier who has years of experience in the industry. Opened in 2024, this wine bar looks and feels like the sitting room at your grandparents’ house, decorated with antiques and upcycled furniture, and well stocked with books and games. The bathroom is a charming detour to the dark side of Victoriana, complete with a cabinet of “dark academia” curiosities.
